On Monday, MARCH  21th, 2022 at 6:00-7:00 p.m. PT:

Join us on Zoom for a concert by Adriana Zoppo who will perform pieces for the viola d’amore, and also tell us a bit about the design and history of this instrument, which is mainly heard in baroque music.

PLEASE NOTE: Our next zoom on Thursday MAY 26 at 6pm PT will feature baroque keyboard specialist Arthur Omura. Scroll down for more info.

We are very excited to be able to continue our Edendale Up Close series (which we used to present live at the library) online, and we hope you can attend. Thanks so much to Fulcrum Arts Emerge / Kewa Civic Concerts for making this and future performances possible.

ARTIST BIO:

A professional violinist and violist, Adriana Zoppo also performs on baroque violin and viola. Her interest in period instruments started when she was invited to become a member of the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra (founded by Gregory Maldonado) and subsequently, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra (Mark Chatfield/Michael Eagan, founders), the Los Angeles Baroque Players, Bach Collegium San Diego, the Corona del Mar Baroque Festival, and the Carmel Bach Festival.

Several years ago, entranced with the beautiful and unusual viola d’amore, Adriana contacted local expert Daniel Thomason for lessons. As a performer on this instrument, she is a winner of the Beverly Hills Auditions of the Consortium of Chamber Music Presenters, has appeared as soloist with the Corona del Mar Baroque Festival, played the music onstage from It’s Alive by composer Bernard Herrmann, and recorded for several films including After Earth (composer James Newton Howard).  Director/Curator of the Glendale Noon Concerts’ early music sub-series Adriana, with her ensemble Ergo Musica, is heard there and at the Edendale Concert series often.

As a freelancer Adriana plays with many symphonic and chamber groups (Santa Barbara, Pacific, Long Beach, New West Symphonies, St. Matthew Chamber and others,) for motion pictures, television shows, video games, solo artist recordings, Broadway musicals (including the Los Angeles premier of Hamilton), and live shows of all musical styles and genres from classical to jazz, and with popular artists Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Josh Grodin, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, Charlie Haden, Page & Plant (Led Zeppelin), Neil Young, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Frank Ocean and many others.

With Frederic Michot and other artists, Adriana collaborates in writing and performing original music of various styles under the name AllDayNight for label www.ilymusic.com
