Edendale Library Up Close Concerts

Join us Saturday, October 7, 2023 at noon-1:00pm PT in the Edendale Library meeting room for a performance of duets for tuba and cornet by CuZns William Roper and Bobby Bradford!

Cu for copper, Zn for zinc, the two together make brass.

Cornet player Bobby Bradford is one of L.A.'s supreme elders of improvised music, leading his own groups as well as having played with Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, David Murray, John Carter, Vinny Golia and Charlie Haden. Since 1991, Bradford has fronted his own ensemble, the Mo’Tet. He is a former instructor at Pasadena City College and Pomona College. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Bradford

William Roper is a multidisciplinary artist who plays tuba and other instruments, in musical environments from orchestras to small free improvising ensembles. He has toured the world as both a soloist and an ensemble player, and been featured on over 60 recordings. https://roperarts.com

They are both founding members of the trio Purple Gums (with Francis Wong) and the quartet The Obihiro Cowboys (with Michael Vlatkovich and Joseph Mitchell). https://www.youtube.com/@cignusolar/videos
