From an early age, Ark Sano has been immersed in music theory and keyboard performance. After graduating from Berklee College of Music he joined Black/Note for several acclaimed jazz albums on Columbia and Impulse!, and has continuously maintained his reputation as one of the top pianists on the jazz scene. Ark’s latest release, his second album with the trio, In Storm, In Breeze, is receiving rave reviews worldwide. He has performed at major jazz festivals in America and Europe, works with large ensembles and big bands, while also writing and performing classical works and giving concerts. He composes and arranges for various chamber ensembles including the Japan America Chamber Orchestra, for which he serves as music director and conductor, and is the assistant conductor of several orchestras. As URB Magazine wrote, “The energy and speed in Ark’s playing is mind-blowing... he rips through solos with calculating precision and unprecedented command of jazz harmony.”

Larry Steen's accomplishments include two award-winning, world jazz releases First Move and View From Afar - solo albums which feature Ernie Watts, Dave Weckl, Robben Ford and Russell Ferrante. He has also recorded for a plethora of other artists, including Lady Gaga and Leonard Cohen, as well as performed live with Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Barry Manilow, Melissa Manchester and Jimmy Buffet, among others. The bassist has also made appearances on numerous film, TV and radio shows, including the nationally syndicated Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. Larry’s formal education includes a Master of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts (CALARTS), as well as a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami after attending the Berklee College of Music. He is a first-place winner of the esteemed International Society of Bassists’ Jazz Competition.

Grammy winners Ray Bardani, Ted Perlman and Mike Acosta utilize Sammy’s grooves for their recording and live projects. He is a six-time Down Beat Award Winner and has appeared on the Emmy Award winning Wayne Brady Show, Ally McBeal with KC and the Sunshine Band and Josh Groban, Unsung Heroes on CMT on film in The Fast and the Furious, Confessions Of An Eco-Terrorist and The Spaces In Between: On The Road With Amy Cook.
His drumming is heard on: Mythbusters, The L Word, several Disney holiday DVDs and on TV and radio as part of the LA Laker Band. The clients that have used his talents include: The Walt Disney Company, Ferrari, NBC, The Hal Leonard Publishing Company, Much Music Television, the Six Flags Corporation, Daimler-Chrysler, ABC, and the International Toys for Tots campaign and CBS.
His “Groove Boot Camp” program is taught to students and educators internationally in addition to clinics and private teaching. He is the co-creator of “Body Beat” a card based educational tool that creates a Drum Circle experience without Drums. Sammy combines his live and studio playing with educational events that span genres and generations. His high energy, positive approach to music and teaching are infectious to those around him and help keep him in demand.
