Riad Abdel-Gawad! Riad is a composer and violinist with a doctorate in music. His mentors have ranged from composer Frederick Rzewski to the legendary violinist Abdo Dagher.  He will be performing music for violin, including some of his own compositions, inspired by Egypt and beyond.

  Back at the Edendale branch on Thursday May 25th at 5 p.m., we will have our first in-person Edendale Up Close concert in our meeting room in a long while!   We’ve been doing them on Zoom since 2020, excited to get back to having live music in the library.  Maksim Velichkin will perform music for solo cello, from baroque to contemporary composers: Gabrieli, delAbaco, Reger, Bach, and more. He is an accomplished cellist, pianist and harpsichordist who has been active as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra artists both here in California and internationally.
